Olkano is a daily "I'm‑OK" beacon, operated from the United States, and designed to be simple, safe and respectful of your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have, including the fact that we do not use third‑party analytics or advertising trackers.
1. Information we collect
We collect only the information we need to provide the Olkano service and keep you and your safety partners informed.
- Account details, such as your name, email address and preferred language.
- Check‑in information, such as your chosen reminder time, daily "I'm OK" responses and missed check‑ins.
- Safety partner details, such as the name and contact details (email/SMS) of people you ask us to notify.
- Basic technical data, such as app version, device type and anonymous logs needed to keep the service reliable.
2. How we use your information
We use your information only to run Olkano, improve it, and communicate with you about the service. We do not use third‑party analytics tools or advertising trackers.
- To send daily reminders, process your check‑ins and notify your safety partners if a check‑in is missed.
- To operate, protect and improve the app and website, including monitoring for abuse and troubleshooting issues.
- To send you essential service messages about changes, security, or your account (we do not sell your data or use it for unrelated advertising).
3. How we share and store information
We never sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted providers who help us run Olkano, and only for the purposes described here.
- Service providers (such as hosting, email and SMS providers) who process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality and security obligations.
- Safety partners you designate, who receive alerts and basic information related to your check‑ins.
- Where required by law, to comply with a valid legal request or protect the safety, rights or property of you, Olkano, or others.
4. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your data, or to object to certain uses of it.
- You can update many account and contact details directly inside the app.
- You can ask us for a copy of your personal data or request that we delete it, where we are not required to keep it for legal or safety reasons.
- You can change your reminder times, pause notifications or close your account at any time.

5. How to delete your account and data
You can request deletion of your Olkano account and associated data at any time. If account deletion is not yet available inside the app, you can contact us and we will process the request for you.
To request deletion:
- Send an email to privacy@olkano.com from the email address linked to your Olkano account.
- Include "Delete my Olkano account" in the subject line and, if helpful, tell us whether you are the primary account holder or only a safety partner contact.
- We will confirm your request and delete your account as soon as reasonably possible, unless we are required to keep some data for legal or safety reasons.
What will be deleted or kept:
- We delete your account profile, check‑in history and configured reminder times.
- We delete the contact details of safety partners associated with your account, unless they also use Olkano with their own account.
- We may retain minimal records (for example, payment records or security logs) for a limited period where we are required to do so by law or have legitimate safety, security or accounting reasons.
